CHAPTER CHAMPIONSHIP HANDICAP RULES
There are two major changes to the rules for the Chapter Championship to be held Saturday, June 26 at Hermitage’s President’s Reserve. One: The handicap requirements for flights in stroke and team play have changed. Two: The first flight participants can now play from the forward tees (orange tees) instead of the back tees (green tees) as required last year.
Stroke Play Handicap: You must have a verifiable USGA Handicap Index to compete in the following flights:
Championship Flight: 0.0 – 12.0
First Flight: 12.1 – 19.0
Second Flight: 19.1 – 25.0
Third Flight: 25.1 – 32.0
Fourth Flight: 32.1 – 40.4
The Championship Flight plays from yardage ranging from 5400 to 5700 yards. (Hermitage:Green Tees)
All other flights play from the forward tees ranging from 4800 to 5300 yards. (Hermitage: Orange Tees)
Team Competition Handicap: Only one member of the team shall have a handicap index of 12.0 or less as of the final handicap revision date prior to the Chapter Championship. That person will play from the back, green tees. Everyone else with handicap 12.1 and higher play from the forward (orange) tees. The positive and negative total handicaps of the team must fall between plus 2 and minus 5.

Establishing Handicaps:
Players with an established handicap need at least two 18-hole scores posted to their handicap record in the current year prior to the Chapter Championship on June 26. These must be posted BEFORE Friday, June 4. People can also use four 9-hole scores or two 9-hole scores for 18.
Players establishing a handicap for the first time must post five 18-hole scores BEFORE Friday, June 4 to get a verifiable handicap by the June 18th entry deadline for the Chapter Championship. People also can post 9-hole scores (two 9-holes for 18 or ten 9-holes for five 18-holes).
Players with less than the minimum requirements posted in 2010 will not be eligible to compete.
NOTE TO ADVANCING PLAYERS: Advancing players will be placed in respective flights based on their verified index prior to the Semi-Final and Championship levels. For example, if you won first place low gross in the second flight but your handicap kept dropping placing you in the first flight, you would compete in the First Flight at the Semi-Final level. This is the same as last year.
Caddies are not permitted at the Chapter Championship level. Personal Distance Measuring Devices are permitted but must only measure distance, not slope or gradient.
